Sewing Class #7

Today was the first day I struggled in sewing class.  I don't think the bag was that hard, it was the language barrier and lack of directions.  (I also didn't have time to eat lunch before I went)  I had to rip out 3 seams.  Even after all the struggling, I will make the bag again.  I just need to make sure I have the seam ripper next to me.  I still need to close up the lining from where I turned it, and I have some straps to pinch the sides.  I'll put new pics up tomorrow.

Drawstring Bags

I feel like I didn't get a lot of projects done today but, I did hand sew a bunch of the pouches and bags I had made before.  After I finished all the hand sewing I made these two drawstring bags for my nephews Stafford and Tucker.

I lined them with some of the printed iron on fabric I bought online.  I really love that fabric, I just wish they had it in different patterns.

Easter Eggs

I started out the day with a bad case of sewer's block.  I didn't know what I wanted to work on, and I'm out of black and white thread.  So, when I came up with a project I wanted to do, I didn't have the supplies I needed.  I sat at my desk for a while brainstorming.  I knew I wanted to make something for my niece and nephews for Easter.  I needed to be light weight so I could send it in the mail.  I finally settled on Easter egg money holders.  Here is how they turned out.

 The whole group.

Eggs for Reed, Stafford, and baby Tucker.

 Eggs for Mona and Cole.

Showing the back, where the money pocket is.

Apron #2

I decided to make an adult size apron.  I like the apron, but I'm not keen on the monkey's face.  I may take the pocket off any put a different one on.

I think it's the eyes that freak me out.

Sewing Class #6

I made a cute little apron at sewing class today.  My teacher really wanted me to make one for myself, but I can't see myself wearing this.  My school is having an auction to raise money for Japan.  I think that is a perfect place for this project.  Stay tuned for some other projects I'll be making over spring break for the auction.

New Project Preview

Here is a preview of a new project I'm working on.  I hope to finish it tomorrow.  It is going to be a tote bag and pouch for a very special someone (can't say who because they read this blog)  :)

Matroyshka Bag

Here are some photos of the matroyshka bag I've been working on.  I still need to sew up the sides and add the zipper.

Sewing Class #5

Well, on Tuesday my sewing teacher told me I could pick any project on the wall and she would teach me how to make it for free.  So I looked around and settled on a big shoulder bag.  It took a lot longer than any of my other class projects, but not too bad for only 2 hours.  I still need to put the handles on (I need some dark brown thread) and I need to sew up the lining from where I turned the bag.  I love it so far!

Sewing Class #4

I had my final beginning sewing class today.  I made a cute little zipper pouch.  I'll be starting the intermediate class on Friday.

My little pouch.

Long Time, No Post

Well, I've been slacking on my posts lately.  Truthfully, I haven't had a lot of time to sew because of work.  That should get better at the end of this week.  I went to Seoul this past weekend.  I found the HUGE fabric market in Dongdaemun.  It was insane.  I'm going to go again during spring break and will take some photos.  Four buildings, seven floors each, filled will everything from fabric to zippers to purse handles.  I only had about an hour before they started closing up.  I will take some photos later of my purchases.

On one of the floors I came across a hand quilting shop that sells project kits.  I picked three to try.  Here they are.  I am almost done with the Matryoshka doll bag.  All I can say is that hand quilting is a lot of work!  I'll post photos tonight of my progress.
